Job Purpose Summary

The incumbent will be responsible to manage all the operating assets of Nebras. Reporting to the Chief Asset Management Officer. The Incumbent will be responsible to oversee and manage all the O&M activities of the managed assets with a main focus on ensuring effective asset management at the asset level resulting in techno-economic favorable results for Nebras. The overall objective is to deliver predictable, sustained excellence in operations, environmental health and safety (EH&S) performance that translates into strong financial results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities by Dimensions

A. Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge and understanding of various technologies (Thermal, Hydro, Solar, Wind etc) in the power industry and their operations, long term and life time extensions etc
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the financial & non-financial performance of the assets
  • Utilize industry information to improve business performance.
  • Stay abreast of technological change impacting the industry, especially in terms of operational improvement of asset performance.
  • Stay abreast of competitive practices and environment, seek ways to create new areas of competitive advantage for the business.
  • Ability to analyse and produce standard reports, plant data summaries and KPIs related to assets under management.

  • Endeavour for superior performance & take personal accountability to meet deadlines in rapidly changing and challenging business environment.

C. Managing Relationships:

  • Build relationships within the organization and establish credibility as a trusted advisor for colleagues and other stakeholders.

D. Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):

  • Assessing the current status of the generation facilities/assets
  • Ensure sustained excellence in operations, environmental health and safety (EH&S) performance or all assets
  • Maintaining best-in-class availability through proactive and predictive maintenance procedures
  • Ensure proper governance and compliance with all laws, regulations, contract, agreements related to the assets
  • Develop suitable KPIs for such assets and follow up for achievement of the KPIs
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring the operating assets and assets under construction in order to compile and present reports to the management.
  • Explore options and methodologies with the major equipment suppliers to optimize the assets' availability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.
  • Coordinate with other stake holders/shareholders in the assets as required
  • Coordinate with the Business Development and M&A teams to assist and provide inputs as needed to facilitate the teams to prepare the bids.
  • Assist in the development and launch of new project opportunities with the BD team.
  • Coordinate with the M&A team to prepare a financial studies and feasibility assessment based on any bids/valuations of opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the CFO and his team for a cross functional requirements
  • Maintain uptodate data base of the portfolio

E. Decision Making:

  • Take decision even with limited information and ambiguous situations if situation demands.
  • Take unpopular and tough decisions in the interest of the organization.

F. Resource Planning & Execution:

  • Organize work; establish priorities; anticipate resources needed and allocate resources when planning the work of others.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • University degree in Engineering with emphasis on Mechanical, Electrical or Power from a recognized university. Second degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of O&M experience of power plants which 6 to 7 years should be in an O&M management role (asset level) followed up with an asset management role with a similar position/responsibilities in a similar industry (portfolio level).

* As Nebras requires a high level of expertise, the above mentioned educational requirements could be compensated for through extensive years of experience in a related sector or field.

Required Special Skills
  • Good technical understanding of power plants of various technologies
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Good adaptability to multinational environment, with wide exposure to various cultures and customs.
  • Ability to work with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Mobility (can be posted either in Qatar or overseas as per business needs)

Communications and Working Relationships
  • Frequent contact and direct reporting line to Chief Asset Management Officer to provide progress updates, resolve issues and receive higher approval where necessary.
